The evangelic church and the ruins of the Teutonic Knights’ fortress, separated only by a ditch, are the pride of Feldioara. The 13th century Romanesque basilica with three aisles and a later added bell tower shows an interesting particularity, a vaulted gallery at the second level of the tower dedicated to the founder of the church. During the 18th century the tower is provided with a roof, constructed after the model of the Black Church in Braşov. The interior of the church is covered with crossed vaults, which in the chancel are supported by half-column piers. Their capitals are decorated with vegetal, anthropomorphic and biblical motifs. From the pre-reformation altar only few parts were preserved and moved later to the Black Church. From the curtain wall only some remains still exist, while the boulder walls of the nearby Teutonic fortress still stand. The latter’s defence walls were 4 m thick and enforced with four towers. The remains of a chapel within the enclosure can still be seen today. The Evangelical Church of St. Matthias is a national class A monument (National Historical Monuments List: BV-II-a-A-11763). In 1394 the documents mention Stefan, as plebian of the church "St. Mathias" in Rasnov and Dean of Brasov. The only church of the Christian community of Râşnov Saxons, preserved to date, dates from the beginning of the 14th century. The Catholic Church worshiped Virgin Mary and, after the Reformation, became the evangelical Saxon prayer site. With the religious Reformation, the Saxons covered the frescoes of the church. But on the north side of the church choir an old painting was discovered, dated to 1500. In 1682, a new altar was installed in the evangelical church. In 1781 the 113-year old pipe organ was replaced with one made by the silesian Johann Frill. After the fires of 1587, 1623 and 1718, the place of worship was greatly damaged. The current appearance of the evangelical church dates from 1774-1775, when a new roof and walls of the church were built.Because in the fire of 1718 the three bells melted, in 1720 a new bell was cast. After 200 years, at the end of the First World War, two large bells, sanctified in 1927, were purchased from Apold. The earthquake of October 26th, 1802, caused great destruction of the Evangelical Church and its tower. The tower that was rebuilt until 1804 was 13 meters high and had a gilded globe and a star on top of it.

The church „The Entry of the Most Holy Mother of God into the Church” was built in 1779, ten years after the village was founded. The church was founded by the great Romanian merchant from Brașov, Ioniță Boghici. The merchant from Brașov has also made other donations to the church, of which there were preserved four icons painted on 20th of February 1779 by Constantin Popovici and a brass candlestick with two arms, dated 1723. Among the valuable objects brought from Tohanul Vechi by the priests Mihai and Oprea, there was a precious gospel printed in Bucharest in 1682 at the command and the expense of Ion Șerban, the nephew of the ruler Șerban Basarab. ”The Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary” Church was built in 1791, and was organized and developed around the Orthodox cemetery in Zărnești, being founded by archpriest Bratu Baiul. Due to the increasing of the population of the village, the enlightened priest wanted to organize an Orthodox cemetery and build the church. At that time the cemetery and the church were located on the outskirts of the village. An ideal location is found on a hill above the river bed Bârsa. Through the efforts of past and present priests, the Orthodox cemetery and stylish renovated church, dedicated to the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, gives us a sample of respect for the ancestors of Zărnești. The Black Church is the parish church of the evangelical congregation of Augustan Confession in Brașov. Its nickname derives from the damage sustained in the Great Fire in 1689, which destroyed large parts of the city and blackened the church`s walls. Initially used only popularly, the name became official on the 20th century. The Black Church houses many remarkable works of art: the baptismal font (1472), a wall painting depicting the Holy Virgin (ca. 1476), Ottoman rugs (17th-18th c.) donated by the members of the congregation to their church, pews (18th-19th c.) attesting to the vast activity of the guilds, the monumental neogothic altar and 5 pipe organs. Two documentary exhibitions, on display in the western part of the church, offer a short history of the Black Church and informations about the life of Johannes Honterus, a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation in Transylvania. The Romanian Orthodox Church Codlea, with the patronage of the 'Ascension of God", is the first Orthodox church in Codlea and was built in 1783. Until its foundation, the faithful gathered in a chapel. They also had a cemetery, as evidenced by a cross that dates back to 1726 and now stands in the courtyard of the church in front of the linden, which was planted in 1783.

The church, built in the shape of a rectangle, was erected at the end of the eighteenth century, in 1780, with the work of the parishioners in the village, and with the contribution of the merchant Ioan Boghici in Braşov, bookseller and editor of books. The church tower measuring 15 meters was completed in 1830. On the inside walls of the church were preserved original mural paintings. 6 June 1773 - Emperor Joseph II of Austria, first arrived in Brașov and overnight at Ghimbav in a house near the Fortified Fortress. At the request of a Romanian delegation, he approved the construction of the Orthodox church in Ghimbav.

The Orthodox Church "Saint John the Baptist" Feldioara is located in the commune of the same name, in Brasov County. The locality is easily accessible by road, being serviced by the European Road E60 Braşov-Sighişoara, just 20 km from Braşov or by railway, via Feldioara Hm station. The natural setting is remarkable, the mountain landscape perfectly completing the local architecture. The place of worship was built in 1788, thanks to the Romanian merchant in Brasov, John Ioanovici, together with his wife Ana. The church plan was designed by the architect Ioan Morca and the works were carried out under the supervision of the priest Dumitru Martinovici. Built in the Gothic-Byzantine style, the church has a ship-shaped single-apse structure in the semi-pentagon to the east (the altar). The windows are also made in Byzantine style, framed with Gothic ogives that fit perfectly into the Byzantine vault of the church. The 40-50 meter high tower perfectly complements the church.

With stunning architecture and gilded turrets, the church can be seen from far away as a jewel of the Land of Bârsa. By the side of the icons painted and the iconostasis, there are several icons embroidered in silk thread by the nuns who work in the cave where the Apostle Peter lived. Beside the altar were holy sacraments brought from Jerusalem, belonging to the infants killed by Herod in the year of the birth of Jesus.

The oldest Orthodox church in Southeastern Transylvania is to be found in Rasnov: the Romanian Orthodox church dedicated to "Saint Nicholas". The monument was raised in several stages. As a result of the archaeological researches, it was concluded that the place was built in the 18th century. This architectural phase are to be noticed in the altar and small ship. In 1384 the restoration of the place was supported by the ruler of Wallachia, Radu I. The church was elongated and enlarged. From now on, it seems that the Gothic impression originates from the architecture of the Rasnov church. In 1773 the church was enlarged by the contribution of the Brasov merchants Ionita and Radu Boghici. The present form dates from the third decade of the 19th century. The Byzantine interior painting seems to have been made in the 17th century. Over the centuries, the church has received numerous donations from the rulers and boyars of Wallachia. The Old Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas is a national monument A (National Historic Monuments List BV-II-m-A-11762).

St. Nicholas Church, documented in 1292 and mentioned in the Papal Bula from 1399, was built of stone from 1495 onwards with the contribution of the voivodes from ever the mountains (Vlad Calugar, Neagoe Basarab, Mihai Viteazul, Petru Cercel, Aron Vodă, Gheorghe Ştefan). The church's design includes Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements, being in fact a synthesis of these styles under Byzantine cast. St. Nicholas Church, founded by the ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu, is the oldest place of worship in Fagaras. More than three centuries separated us from the beginnings of this Brâncovian jewel, built in 1697-1698. Above the entrance door to the narthex there is a inscription, with words dug in stone and the coat of arms of Wallachia, which tells us that the one who founded this church dedicated to St. Nicholas is Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu and the church was built in 1698, the tenth reighn year of the prince. The architect is not known, but it is very likely that he was one of the artists trained in the so complex atmosphere of the Hurezi School. The church as a whole marks the presence of the brâncoveane Renaissance style. The facades reveal two girdles characteristic to this style, as well as cornice under the eaves, made in apparent brick. The open porch is surrounded by ten octagonal columns. And the bell has an octagonal shape and is situated above the nave. There are three domes, of brick and hemispherical form. Characteristic of the Brâncoven style are the seven windows with sculpted stone frames as well as the door frame, preserved in its original shape. And the iconostasis of the church "St. Nicholas "is the original one, carved with a special craftsmanship in oak wood, in the same brâncovenesc style, glazed with gold leaf. His painting was made, as evidenced by the inscriptions, by the painter Preda of Câmpulung. The decoration of the altar and nave was executed in the fresco technique, closely following the Byzantine iconography and style, by the two sons of Preda, Preda and Theodosius. The painting of the narthex was made later and is the work of an unknown painter of much lower value. The church "Saint Nicholas" is the oldest church in the city, the old medieval art monument inscribed in the heritage of the Romanian Academy. The great historian Nicolae Iorga believed that the church, which was built on the site in 1515 and then was repaired in 1810, comes from ancient times, from a Romanian ruler. It seems that the original church was quite of small dimensions. As the number of residents was increased by approximately five times, the size of the church was unfit for its purpose. In the late seventeenth century the church was finished, being stuck in the narthex of the chapel. In the oral reports, the elders of the village said that after the Battle of 1690 at Zărnești, the Tatars burned the village, and here it did not stand after that scorching fire than the new church, whose brick and stone walls left in their place. It is believed that the rise of this place would have been helped by a prince of Wallachia, respectively the predecessor of Constantin Brâncoveanu, Şerban Cantacuzino. Ridged by the Teutonic Knights, the Feldioara Fortress is the oldest fortification in Brasov County, being documented since 1225. At the time of its construction, t had strong walls and was the most important fortification in Transylvania. Built on a 150-meter-high limestone rock, the fortress was later extended with the help of the Saxons of Râşnov, Cristian and Vulcan. The western, northern and eastern sides were protected by a continuous gallery, two anteforts and seven towers. On the southern, more steep side, there were only two towers. The fortress was destroyed in 1430 by the Turks, as well as by Vlad the Impaler in the 1457 campaign, the inhabitants rebuilding it in the same year. During the communist years, ite was left to decaz and become an almost ruined. Only the Northwest tower, the fountain in the middle, the stone foundation of the chapel, and most of the cellar remained. Archaeological discoveries have highlighted that the hill of the fortress was inhabited thousands of years ago, revealing surprisingly well-preserved artefacts from the Neolithic (Cucuteni), Geto-Dacian and Medieval periods that will be exhibited in the museums that will exist in the towers of the city. According to the Feldioara Tourist Information Center, in the Fortress of the Teutons all the towers and the walls of the premises (the North, South, East, West and Zwinger protection towers)have been restored, and the original teutonic fortifications have been preserved. Inside the inner courtyard, the remnants of an initial chapel and a Cistercian monastery were highlighted by ground marking. The fountain was also rebuilt and a viewing area was set up on the guard wall, from where the Bârsa countryside can be admired. Text source: turismistoric.ro/
