Local wildlife watching trips in Brasov area, Transylvania, Romania and the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. Short and longer holidays focused on watching and tracking brown bears, grey wolves and Eurasian lynx, as well as on amazing mountainous landscapes, wild flowers, mountain and wetland birds, rural life and history. Include also a visit to Bran Castle ("Dracula's Castle"), the medieval town of Brasov or a fortified church into your trip. Transform your holiday into an unforgettable experience with us. We are a team of professionals working in various fields to create memorable holidays for you in the Transylvanian Carpathians and the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. After 4 years of work within the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project at its completion in 2003 we have decided to share with you the amazing experience of tracking and observing wildlife in its natural habitat and help you understand the importance of its conservation. This way we can continue our work to protect large carnivores and their natural habitats through ecotourism. What do we have to offer? Since 2008 we are able to give you a fair chance at seeing Eurasian lynx and brown bears in the wild, as we started working with wildlife researchers from Brasov area. These activities do not harm the animals and do not put you at risk, as the researchers know the best way to approach the animals and the watching is done at a safe distance. We also work with experts in birds, both in the Transylvanian Carpathians and the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.

Hunting was also found in art, starting with the cave paintings, continuing with the many artworks from the Middle Ages and culminating with today's photography. The phenomenon is heavily developed in the West, but began to shyly appear in the native tourist landscape in the last few years. The term refers to the observation and study of wild birds with the naked eye or with the help of the following equipment: binoculars, glasses, lenses and professional photographic cameras. Unlike ornithologists, who study birds for purely scientific and research purposes, birdwatchers perform rather relaxing recreational activities that have a serious social component in the middle. Birdwatching is a combination of sports, relaxation and hiking in nature, all grafted on an ecological stand. For some species, it is the area with the largest herds seen in Transylvania (black stork, big egret, big hawk, white hawk, black hawk). Timetable: 1 March - 1 November: 08:00 - 18:00 Rates: Birdwatching fee: 20 lei / person

Happy Visit! #libeartybearsanctuary #visitzarnesti Created in memory of the Maya bear, the Libearty Sanctuary is today home to over 100 brown bears, all rescued from a cruel and abusive life in captivity.  Recognized by many specialists as probably the best bear sanctuary in the world, Libearty covers an area of 69 hectares of lush forest, streams, and ponds located on the territory of Zarnesti, the municipality at the foot of the Carpathians, near the city Brasov.  Most bears in the reserve were rescued from the most miserable and tiny cages, being only a reason for "fun", tourist attraction. Many were confiscated from the terraces of restaurants, hotels, and boarding houses, but some of them were held captive near factories, gas stations, or even a monastery. Bears that lived in circuses also came to us.   Each bear or bear in the reserve has its own story full of drama. Please note that Libearty is a bear sanctuary, not a zoo. The Libearty Bear Sanctuary has been named by Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel site, Traveler's Choice for 2020! It is the second time that the Libearty Sanctuary has received this award of excellence after the one awarded in 2014.  Details of the visit can be found by accessing the following link Visit the Sanctuary - Asociația Milioane de Prieteni (millionsoffriends.org)

Whether you are interested in the wildlife of Romania, myths and legends related to it, traditional Transylvanian lifestyle, there’s a very simple way to get a first-hand experience: from people that grew up with all that. You can choose one of our tours, day-walks or activities focused on: Bear, wolf tracking and watching The Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania (Romania) are home to impressive numbers of wolves, bears, lynx and other wildlife. Even more impressive, this is in close coexistence with traditional farming activities-something that didn’t really happen in any other parts of Europe. Seeing wild animals in their natural environment is always a challenge ; finding tracks or other signs of them is the very first step to understand the world they live in and their life. We will go looking for these wild animals away from any tourist areas, following shepherds or foresters’ trails, deep into the forest. We can arrange bear-watching from one of the hides owned by Forestry Commission; about 80 % chances to see bears as well as other wildlife (wild boar, Lesser spotted Eagle, Ural Owl); we had sightings of wolves and lynx as well, although they’re rather exceptional. Far from the urban agglomeration, in the complete silence of the forest, tourists have the chance to listen to nature, the noises of wild animals and even to safely follow the dangerous ones from specially arranged shelters. The forests of Piatra Craiului are the ideal habitat of large carnivores, bears, wolves, lynx, deer and deer, and the rocky areas of the black goat. The rich ornithofauna, represented by 111 species identified in the area of the Piatra Craiului National Park, is an ideal resource for bird watching lovers. Tours are organized by the travel agency specialized in the following activities: Transylvanian Wolf- agency specialized in bear / wolf tracking and watching, birds and flowers watching. Rates: 60 euro / guided tour has as a starting point - Zărnești city center - Zărnești National Center for Tourist Information and Promotion, duration approx. 3 hours, guided tour of the Bear Observatory.
