About

The Brâncoveanu Monastery from Sâmbăta de Sus is another important attraction for Romanian or foreign tourists.

The history of the monastery began in the seventeenth century. Important founders were Constantin Brâncoveanu, ruler of Wallachia between 1688-1714, and Metropolitan Nicolae Balan.

The stone decoration of the frames of the doors and windows, but especially of the sculpted pillars and the stone paved panels in the porch of the church give a special beauty to this monument.
