Tourist attraction - Codlea
About
It was buid by the Teutonic Knights and the German colonists between 1211-1225, on the top of a hill (980 m), on Măgura Codlei Mountain. The fortress had the role of refuge and supervision of the commercial road connecting the Bârsei Land to the Province of Sibiu, the so-called "Saxon Road".The fortress lasted until 1345, when it was probably destroyed by arson during the invasion of the Tatars and was never rebuilt. The Black Fortress pattern is exhibited in the Traditions Museum in Codlea.
